Administrative Staff


Michael J. Farrell, RT

Mr. Farrell hails from Rochester, New York. He received the R.T. from North Country Community College in Saranac Lake, New York. Mike moved to the Capital District in 1975, and began his work with MRI in 1986. He is recognized among his peers and within the larger medical imaging community as one of the foremost magnetic resonance technologists in our area.

Michael lives with his family in Stillwater, New York. He enjoys soccer, skiing, and golf.

Daniel A. Derico, RT

Mr. Derico was born in Albany, and received his R.T. from the Albany Memorial Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in 1988. At Albany Advanced Imaging, Dan is primarily responsible for CT scanning, with a major interest in MRI as well.

Dan lives with his family in Latham, New York. He enjoys woodworking, photography, and following football.

Anthony B. Chouffi, RT

Mr. Chouffi is a native of Schenectady. He received his RT from the Albany Memorial School of Radiologic technology in 1985. Tony's primary responsibility at AAI is in MRI, but he is also certified in CT. Prior to joining the staff of AAI, Mr. Chouffi was a long-time general radiographic and CT technologist in the Department of Medical Imaging at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, NY.

Tony enjoys playing golf with his wife, and also is an avid lover of gardening and wildlife.

Holly Minkiewicz, BA, RDMS

Ms. Minkiewicz is a native of Rotterdam, New York. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology and Health Science from SUNY Potsdam, Holly went on to Hudson Valley Community College to become a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Before joining Albany Advanced Imaging, she was a Sonographer at Albany Medical Center and New York University Medical Center.

Holly lives with her husband in Rotterdam and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Holly Minkiewicz

Kristin Huss, BS, CNMT

Kristin is a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist. She graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in May 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Medicine. She has worked at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital and Albany Medical Center prior to coming to work for us in March 2003.

In her free time Kristin enjoys spending time with her family, reading and scrap booking.

Kristine Dammeyer, RT

Mrs. Dammeyer is originally from New York City. She received her RT from Hudson Valley Community College. Her primary responsibilities are radiographic technology and bone density studies.

Sonya A. Kealy, RT

Ms. Kealey has been a registered radiologic technologist for over 20 years working in multiple facets of radiology. These include radiographic technology, mammography, CT scanning, and supervising. She holds advanced certification in mammography and CT.

Her interests include outdoor sports, country living and volunteering to help the less fortunate.

Frances Donatelli, BS, RDMS

Ms. Donatelli graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Endicott College and went on to Hudson Valley Community College to become a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Before joining Albany Advanced Imaging she was a sonographer at Albany Medical Center.

Fran enjoys skiing, mountain biking, movies, reading and spending time with her son, family, and friends.

Frances Donatelli

Andrea Valenti, RN

Ms. Valenti is a graduate of the Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing. She has had experience in geriatrics, pediatrics, maternal and child health, and urology. She assists with CT scanning and MRI procedures at Albany Advanced Imaging.

Her interests include music, theater, and volunteer work for the Diabetes Association, the MDA, the Cancer Society, and MS.

Michael J. Whalen, RT, MBA

Practice Administrator

Mr. Whalen began his career in medical imaging by earning his AAS in Radiologic Technology from Hudson Valley Community College. After working as a radiologic technologist for several years, Mr. Whalen made the transition into management when he assumed the position of Administrative Director of Medical Imaging at St. Mary’s Hospital, Troy, NY, in 1983. Michael became Administrative Director of Medical Imaging at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, NY, in 1989. During his tenure at St. Peter’s Hospital, the Department of Medical Imaging enjoyed tremendous annual growth, both in the number and variety of services performed. Albany Advanced Imaging has experienced a similar rate of growth since Mr. Whalen’s arrival in 2001.

In addition to his training as a radiologic technologist, Mr. Whalen has obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of St. Rose. He went on to obtain his MBA, also from St. Rose.

Michael is very active in community affairs. He is on the Boards of Directors of Sunnyside Center (a not-for-profit children’s daycare center in Troy, NY), the Latham Lassies Softball girls’ athletic league, and The Edison Club in Rexford, NY. Michael enjoys golf, and serves as a girls’ softball coach. He lives in Watervliet with his wife and two children.

Michael J. Whalen

Herk T. Alberry, RT, RDMS

Manager

Mr. Alberry is a native of Chaumont, New York, and moved to the Albany area in 1969. He graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York, with the R.T. Herk began his career in Diagnostic Ultrasonography in 1974, becoming a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in 1975. Following work at Albany Memorial Hospital, Herk became Supervisor of Ultrasound at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, New York, in 1991. Mr. Alberry was named Manager of Albany Advanced Imaging prior to its opening in 1999. His current interests center around information technology and management, particularly Picture Archiving and Communications Systems.

Herk lives with his family in Voorheesville, New York. He is an accomplished chef, and also enjoys gardening.

Betsy Niemczyk

Former Director of Marketing

Betsy joined the staff of Albany Advanced Imaging in December 2003 as the Director of Marketing. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pubic Communications.

In her free time, Betsy enjoys traveling, playing sports, reading and spending time with friends and family.

All of us at Albany Advanced Imaging wish Betsy all the best as she begins her new career as a pharmaceutical representative. She will be missed by us all.

Beth Tearoe

Certified Professional Coder

Ms. Tearoe is originally from Oregon and now resides in Delmar with her husband and son. Beth has worked in various capacities in the medical field since 1989. She is a Certified Professional Coder. Beth has been at AAI since October 2001, first as a receptionist, and then became a Certified Coder in 2003.

Katherine L. Keniston

Ms. Keniston is AAI's transcriptionist. A native of Pennsylvania, Kathy grew up in Massachusetts where she attended Merrimack College. She moved to the Albany area with her husband and family in 1975. Fascination with language led to extensive study of English, Latin, French, and classical Greek. She has been transcribing radiology reports exclusively for over ten years, formerly for the Medical Imaging Department at St. Peter's Hospital, and now for AAI.

Kathy's other interests include music, calligraphy, reading, and cooking. She lives in Delmar with her husband.

Nancy Holland

Ms. Holland joined the staff at AAI in December of 1999 as a secretary/receptionist. Before coming to AAI, Nancy worked at Albany Memorial Hospital, Bellevue Women's Hospital, and at Our Lady of Hope Nursing Home. A native of the Capital District, she grew up in Watervliet, where she resides with her family.

Nancy's other interests include classic rock and roll, movies, and sporting events.

Mr. Alberry received his Associates degree in Business from Hudson Valley Community College in Business Management. He joined Albany Advanced Imaging in early 2001 as a receptionist/secretary.

In his leisure time, Shawn enjoys playing baseball and football.

Tammie O'Brien

Ms. O'Brien is from Troy, NY, and joined AAI in May 2002 as a Secertary/Recptionist. Her interests include listening to music, horseback riding, and fashion. She is a gradute of Troy High School. Prior to joining AAI, Tammie worked at the office of Drs. Jacobs, Lee, and Burack for 3 years, and at Verizon in customer service.

Kevin joined the staff of Albany Advanced Imaging in March of 2003 as a Receptionist/Secretary. In his spare time he likes to travel and spend time with his three dogs.

Wendy Jurnak

Mrs. Jurnak is Albany Advanced Imaging’s film librarian and joined the staff in April of 2004. Before coming to AAI Wendy was employed at St. Peter’s Hospital in various positions including supervisor of the film library.

Wendy lives in Latham with her husband and two children. She enjoys spending time with her family and teaching the Winter Colorguard Program at Shenendehowa High School.
